Sanderson CC178 1-7/8″ Small Block Chevy Header Set
$377.00 – $549.00
The Sanderson CC178 is a 1-7/8″ primary tube header that fits a variety 1927 and up automobiles with high power or stroked large cubic inch small block Chevrolet engines and require a very tight-fitting header.
The Sanderson CC178 1-7/8″ header is designed to fit 1927 and up automobiles with small block Chevrolet engines. (No Flange Adapter Required) If the engine is making tons of power—for example supercharged applications—and a short, block hugger header is required for clearance, this header is the best choice.
This header features a large 1-7/8″ primary tube diameter and a 3″ collector for extreme horsepower, high RPM, supercharged, and other high performance engines that require a large primary tube to exit the exhaust gases.
This header fits any rack and pinion set-up. Also fits Vega steering and any Mustang-style mounted steering that is mounted with 2″ clearance from the steering gear to the center ports on the driver’s side. The header will clear all motor mounts, tie rods, or steering rods. This is the most compact true performance header offered today. Comes with all hardware necessary for installation.
NOTE: This is a rectangular-shaped port to fit without adapter plates, with dimensions of roughly 1-3/8″ width by 1-3/4″ height (see images).
Sanderson’s Ceramic Coating is recommended for every vehicle application and is the default finish selection choice above. To meet high standards of quality, Sanderson applies a multi-layer inside and outside aluminized ceramic coating in-house and then polishes the coating to a high luster. This aerospace and military-grade technology adds excellent protection to your headers, while offering the benefit of thermal control in your engine bay. It also improves cylinder scavenging of exhaust gases, and increases the longevity of your header investment.
When sitting in driver’s seat and engine in front of you, the LEFT header would be the Driver’s Side on LH drive vehicles; coincidentally, means the RIGHT header is on the passenger side. See the detail image above left that describes engine sides.

What is a D-Port?
We often see confusion in what is considered a D-Port cylinder head. The problem originates in the technical understanding of what constitutes a true D-PORT versus a D-shape. The D-Port roof extends well above the centerline of the exhaust port, whereas the D-shaped port fits nicely inside what is deemed a standard port dimension.
NOTE: This issue concerns STRAIGHT PLUG Vortec-style cylinder heads
Vortec style (and this includes non-GM aftermarket) cylinder heads use a different spark plug spacing on the center two spark plugs. Many exhaust headers will require specific dimpling to ensure adequate spark plug clearance when used with the Vortec-style heads.
If unsure, please measure the center-to-center distance between the center pair of spark plugs on your heads. The standard distance is 4.5″ (11.43 cm) versus 4.0″ (10.16 cm) on the Vortec heads. See image below:
Does not require flange adapter plate.
The Patented Leak-Free Design that Sanderson Headers offer you is the only leak-free flange design on the market … Do Not Attempt To Use Flange Gaskets! The raised flange on the Sanderson Headers will buckle the gasket during tightening and actually cause a leak!Click here for installation procedure.
Sanderson Headers are NOT emissions legal on pollution-controlled motor vehicles. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to verify local regulations for compliance.

WRAPPING HEADERS WITH THERMAL TAPE VOIDS WARRANTY.
* Extremely compact header designs which locate the collector in close proximity to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason, part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year Warranty period only. All other Warranty conditions apply.
